Mega Mangum James passed away peacefully in her Farmington home on July 20, 2015 at the age of 94.
She was born April 9, 1921, in Georgetown, Utah the daughter of Squire Newton Mangum and Sarah Ann Dutton Mangum.
She married the love of her life, Carl Ned James, Sr, on July 9, 1937 and was sealed for eternity Oct 2, 1950 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Mega loved children, raising 8 of her own; and many nieces and nephews spent countless hours at her home. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. Six of her children served as Missionaries for the Church.
She loved to do crafts of many kinds. Mega learned to knit by knitting socks for the men serving in World War ll and enjoyed needlepoint, sewing and quilting. She also crocheted many doilies and afghan's.
Mega cared for her children while her husband was serving in the South Pacific during World War ll, and then cared for him when he returned.
Ned and Mega's children and their (spouses) are as follows: Carl (Dorothy) James of Farmington, NM; BettyJean (Louis) Haynie of Farmington, NM; Richard Keith James ; Kent (Teri) James of Maui, Hawaii; Bobby (Donna) James of Farmington, NM; Louise (Raul) Garrison of Bedford, TX; Carole (Blain) Crezee of Farmington, NM; Dwight (Marcia) James of LaPlata, NM; Charlett (David) Bridges of American Fork, UT.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ned; her parents Squire Newton and Sarah Ann Dutton Mangum; children Betty Jean Haynie and Richard Keith James; also grandchildren Stacy Vandruff and Kevin Hein.
Pallbearers are her sons and sons-in-law. Honorary pallbearers are all 35 grandchildren, 93 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be Monday, July 27th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 East Ute St. in Farmington.
Funeral services for Mega will be Tuesday, July 28th at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Farmington 7th Ward Chapel, Apache Building, 400 W. Apache with Bishop Carroll Carter conducting. Interment will follow at the Kirtland-Fruitland Cemetery in Kirtland.
