Max Emmons Taylor Sr., 92, of Farmington, passed away on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, in Farmington. He was born Feb. 18, 1922, in Upland, Calif.
Max moved to Farmington in 1978. He and his wife Ruth opened Wonderful World of Children daycare. Everyone knew him as Grandpa Max. He was active in the Old Car Club, Old Engine Club and the Senior Center. He helped establish the Four Square Church and was a leader in the religious community. His business Grandpa Max's Clock Repair established a network of friends throughout the area. Also known as Colonel Sanders, he was recognized everywhere he went. Max's legacy of unconditional love and selfless giving will continue by all whose lives he touched.
Max was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Ruth Taylor; son Philip; and his daughter Ruth Ann Roberts.
He is survived by his wife Ginger Nail; sons, Max (Diane), David (Marilyn) and Richard; daughters, Diantha Terrell and DeeDee (Gary) Moore; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 211 W. 20th St. in Farmington.
