Max was born On Mach 27, 1939 to Merrill and Emma Strobel in Durango, Colorado. Max spent
his childhood in Silverton, where his father mined. He learned every mountain rail, and gold mining
operation. Max spent the rest of his childhood in Cherry Creek, Colorado. Max graduated from
Durango High School. and shortly after enlisted in the Army. After this time he was employed by
Ryder Truck Rental. Max farmed in Cherry Creek for many years growing pinto beans and winter wheat.
He then opened Strobels' truck repair shop in Flora Vista, NM. He was a master mechanic and could fix
anything. He later retired from Giant Industries. Max loved everything outdoors from hunting and fishing to
hiking then mountain tops. Max lead many an expedition to the top of Twilight Peak, the tallest peak in Silverton,
in search of Carsons' lost mine. He loved to blaze new trails, and travel to new places. Max was a wonderful m an of God
and the Bible was his favorite book. Max touched the life of every man that crossed his path and no man crossed his path
but by God's will. He will be truly missed!! Max was preceded in death by both his parents, his late wife Gordie Tate Strobel,
daughter: Sonya Strobel. He is survived by his wife LaVonne Strobel, son: David Carle, daughters: Neva Jo Strobel,
Darlene Carle, Brenda Carle, and Jerri Carle. sister: Pam Graham, niece Krystal Bonsall , nephew Aaron Smith 8,
8-grandchildren, 9 great-grandchild. A viewing will be from 4-6 pm on Sunday October 05, 2014 at Cope Memorial
Chapel 404 W. Arrington, Farmington, NM, Graveside Service will take place at 9:30 am on Monday, October 06, 2014
at Memory Gardens Cemetery, immediately following the graveside service a Memorial Service will be at Mountain
Vista Baptist Church 4401 Wildflower Mesa Dr. with Rev. John Preston officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be
made to the San Juan Historical Society, Silverton Museum P.O. Box 154 Silverton, CO 814331-970-387-5609.
