A funeral Mass for Mary Russell Morgan, 94, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014, at St. John the Evangelist Mission in Houck, Arizona. The Reverend Raymond Mahlmann will officiate. Burial will be on a family plot in Sanders, Arizona. Visitation will be 9 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014, at the St. John the Evangelist Mission.
Morgan died March 22, 2014, in Chandler, Arizona. She was born May, 15, 1920, in Houck, Arizona, into the Edge Water People Clan born for the One Who Walks Around People Clan.
Morgan was a homemaker, rancher, rug weaver and traditional practitioner. She enjoyed playing Bingo, cards and word-find puzzles. Morgan also enjoyed listening to country music.
Survivors include her daughter Katherine Morgan; brother Andrew Russell; sisters Agnes Russell Yazzie, Helen Russell Earl and Rosalind Russell Hubbell; three grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Frank Morgan; husband Sam Morgan; one grandson; sister Verna Kelm; and one great-grandson.
Pallbearers will be Dewayne Morgan, Ronald Russell, Donovan Tsabetsaye, Merlin Russell, LouGene Jones and Jason Russell.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Houck Chapter House.
Cope Memorial Chapel of Gallup, New Mexico is entrusted with arrangements.
