Mary Lou (Keenan) Edwards

June 21, 1929 — August 9, 2013

Mom, although we are so saddened by your absence, it would be selfish to not be excited on your reunion with Dad and Connie Edwards.
Mary Louise Keenan Edwards, 84, of Farmington, passed away Friday, August 9, 2013. She was born in Farmington, the daughter of Louis Edward Keenan and Mary Madeline Shannon Keenan. Her preschool years were spent in Rattlesnake, NM where her father worked for Continental Oil. During the weekdays, Mary Lou attended Saint Thomas Catholic School (now Sacred Heart School). She stayed with her grandparents, Thomas and Agnes Shannon, in Farmington while her father built a home and planted an apple orchard on the Bloomfield Highway. The home still stands on the corner of Carlton St. and the old Bloomfield Highway with a "K" for Keenan on the brick chimney. Mary Lou graduated from Farmington High School in 1947. On August 13, 1949, Mom married the love of her life, Fred Warner Edwards at Sacred Heart Church in Farmington.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and daughter Connie. She is survived by her brother, Jim Keenan and his wife Grace, of Albuquerque; sister, Terry Deiterman of Arlington, Texas; sister, Rose Ann Yowell of New Orleans; brother, Larry Keenan of Tucson, and two very special cousins, Mary Kay Sawyer of Farmington and Jo Ellen Alexander of Idaho.
She also is survived by three children; Craig Edwards and wife, Tina of Aztec; Judy Cathey and husband, George of Farmington; and Margaret Stone and husband, Glenn of Grand Junction.
Ten grandchildren blessed to have Mary Lou and Fred as grandparents are: Shannon Higgins, Stacy Brady and husband Ty, George Cathey and wife Heidi, Chris Stone, Jessica Stem and husband Aaron, Greg Cathey and wife Camille, Zachary Roberts and wife Jennifer, Ariel Vaughan Smith and husband Matt, Chad Vaughan, and Madeline Edwards.
