Mary Charley Sanchez

Our loving mother, Mary Charley Sanchez, stepped through the veil into the next life to continue her journey that ultimately leads back to the arms of a loving Heavenly Father. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday evening, July 7th, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Sanchez; son, Irvin Sam; daughter, Carlene Ann Sanchez; father, James Charley; mother, Dorthy Haceesa-Garcia; sisters, Sadie Farmer, Nellie Madden, Lula Largo and Pearl Biggs; brothers, Larry Charley, James Charley, Luther Charley and Albert Charley; and daughters-in-law, Ida Sam, and Sandra Sam.

She is survived by her children, Harold Pacheco (Bessie), Freddy Sam, Melvin Sam (Melinda), Osmund Sam, Marilyn Pacheco (Leo) and Virgil James Sanchez; sisters, Anna Mae Yazzie (Billy), Amy Benally; brother, Bruce Charley; twenty-nine grandchildren, fifty-six great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren, all of whom have been influenced by her love and devotion.

Mary was well known for her artistic abilities displayed through her beautiful crafts, silversmithing and woven rugs, which were inspired by her love of family. Her life in mortality has been a life of service to many. She was one who always reached out to those in need -- especially little children. She loved children and they in turn loved her. She also had a great love of animals, especially horses.

Heaven received her with open arms to unite her with her loved ones that have passed. She leaves us with so many memories that are fresh in our hearts and minds. Mom, we bid you farewell for now, and look forward to a joyful reunion.

Services will be held in her honor at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meeting house in Lybrook, New Mexico, on Monday, the 17th, at 10:am. Internment will be at the Lybrook Cemetery following the services.
