She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Carolyn Hepler, Catherine McElroy, and Sophia Rustad; brothers David Irvin; and infant Edward Paul Irvin; and her son Matthew Brewer. She is survived by her son Paul Brewer and his wife Melissa, and daughter Bonnie Crane; grandchildren, Linda Audrey Brewer, Nathan Crane, Jeff Brewer, Jessica Williams, John Brewer, Ryan Browning, Laura Brewer, Gina Brewer, Jennifer Crane, Cooper Brewer, Spencer Brewer, Aubrey Anna Brewer, Rylan Gendron, Kaitlyn Tuck, Rebecca Taylor, Elyse Taylor, Weston Taylor and Hunter Brewer. She was the proud great-grandmother of 21. She leaves behind her sisters, Rebecca Smith, Martha Kannard and Susan Andrews; brothers, Dennis Irvin and Andrew Irvin; as well as numerous dearly loved nieces and nephews,
Judy was an artist practicing her craft as owner and operator of Brewer Greenhouse for 45 years, where she loved growing flowers and vegetables that were the pride of growers all over San Juan County. She raised her children, grandkids and great-grands in her greenhouses, and supplied many local growers with a wonderful variety of chilies, tomato plants, petunias and geraniums. Judy was also a skilled poet, and was published in the Denver Post at one time.
A much-loved friend to many, Judy always had a bed, a meal or a cup of coffee to offer to those she loved. If you happened to stop by during greenhouse season, you could pull up a stool and transplant geraniums, sprinkle tiny seedlings, or just breathe in the moist, fragrant scent of soil and growing plants.
In addition to being grandma to her many grandkids and great-grands, she was also grandma Judy to many little ones at Childhaven, where she worked for several years, in between growing seasons.
She was a master gardener who loved nothing more than spending time in her flower beds and won many blue ribbons at the county fair. She enjoyed staying current with friends and family on Facebook, and she delighted in a great football game. Judy loved her family, her friends and life in all its seasons, and she did so with gusto, in her own unique way.
