Mary Jane Begay, 76, of Shiprock, died on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, in Farmington. She was born May 8, 1936, in Shiprock, to John and Olive Jim. She was born to Kinlichii'nii and born for Tl'izi Dalch'i.
Mary attended vocational job training as a seamstress in Cleveland, Ohio.
She enjoyed church related activities and helping others. Her hobbies were farm work and sewing.
Mary was preceded in death by her daughters, Clara Ann and Bernice; her parents; brothers, Henry Jim and Willie Jim and her sister, Ann Mobley.
She is survived by her husband, James H. Begay; sons, Wilson (Isabelle) Blatchford, Anderson Blatchford, Ronnie (Alberta) Begay, Ricky H. Begay and Randy H. Begay; daughters, Rose Ann Tanner, Bernadine Begay, and LeAnn (Eric) Kenneth; brothers, James Jim and Raymond Jim; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Shiprock Ward, US Hwy 491 in Shiprock.
A funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. in the church, with Dickie Neztsosie officiating.
Burial will be in the Shiprock Community Cemetery.
A reception will follow in the church.
Pallbearers are Steve Tanner, Shawn Tanner, Eric Kenneth, Chris Blatchford, Davis Salt, Monty Benally, Terrance Jim and Donovan Shushlachee.
