Marvin A. Gardner, 68, a resident of Aztec, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, at his home. Marvin was born Sept. 13, 1946, in Snowflake, Ariz., to John and Kathelene Gardner.
Marvin lived in Woodruff, Ariz., on the family farm until he graduated from Holbrook High School, after high school graduation, he attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz., for one year before serving a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Guatemala and El Salvador.

Marvin was a businessman and his wife Nora worked alongside him. In Holbrook they owned and operated the AandW. Marvin sold this business and moved to Gallup, where he opened a laundromat. He later opened a second laundromat in Farmington and moved to Aztec, where he found the place he wanted to spend the rest of his life. Marvin loved his pond, where he could fish, boat or lie in his hammock and watch the wildlife.
When his wife began to have health problems, he lovingly cared for her for years until she passed away on Feb. 14, 2011. Without her, he was very lonely but got much satisfaction and enjoyment from his three children, 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of whom survive him.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nora (Baldwin) Gardner and his parents.
His siblings are Brenda (Glen Johnson), David (Ann), Max (Virginia), Karen (Charles McLaws), Peggy (Benny Goodman), Arnold, Donald (Connie) and Aleda Gardner, all of whom survive him and many dear friends.
