Marjorie Lois Dunham

Marjorie Lois Winkler Dunham entered into restful peace, Friday, May 17, 2013 in Mesa, Arizona. She was born in Rozel, Kansas, September 3, 1915 To Albert and Rosa Lena Winkler. She was the 11th of 12 children whose parents emigrated to the United States from Germany in the mid 1800's. Her father was a wheat farmer so all of her youth she on the farm which had no modern conveniences as we know them today. Marjorie married Claude Dunham, December 24, 1939 in Rozel, Kansas and moved to Albuquerque where they raised their family till 1956 when the family moved to Farmington, NM during the oil and gas boom. Both Marjorie and Claude were instrumental in organizing the San Juan County ARC and worked hard to get schools to accept Mentally Challenged individuals as students. This was in the late 1950's and 60' when the subject was taboo. Marjorie was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Farmington and attended the Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist of Kearny, Arizona. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents and 10 siblings, her husband Claude Dunham, daughter Nancy Dunham Grahm and son Forrest Dunham. She is survived by her sister, Lola Winkler Heimer and children Rosalind (Art) Padilla, Ron (Linda) Dunham, Dan (Dinorah) Dunham; grandchildren Danny (Stacey) Padilla, Nicole Dray, Trevor (Kelly) Dunham, Jeremy (Tammy) Dunham, Jonah (Holly) Dunham; great-grandchildren Daniel Padilla, Isabella Padilla; Ethan (Victoria) Hannah, Emma Dray; Lilly Dunham; Chloe, Xavier, Tristan Dunham; Leslie and Shannon Graham, great-great grandchild Jacob Dray; A Memorial service was held in Kearny, Arizona at the Church of the Good Shepherd, may 22, 2013. A funeral service of Christian burial will be held Thursday, May 30 at the First United Methodist Church of Farmington at 10:00 a.m. with interment immediately follow the Greenlawn Cemetery.Arrangements were made by Buellar Funeral Home, Chandler, Arizona and Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 East Ute St. in Farmington.
