Marcelino L. "Marcy" Martinez, 82, a resident of Aztec, New Mexico passed away on September 18, 2015. Marcy was born June 21, 1933 in Tierra Amarilla, NM to Eduardo and Candelaria Martinez. He was employed by the City of Aztec for 30 years and retired as Superintendent for the water/waste water treatment plants. He proudly served in the US Army as a Corporal in the 11th Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict, stateside, received an honorable discharge in 1956 and transferred to the Army Reserve to complete 8 years of service. He was a member of the 11th Airborne Division Association, the American Legion, the Farmington Elks Lodge and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Marcy enjoyed the many activities at the Elks, fishing, hunting, camping, and drinking coffee at McDonalds with his many friends. In later years, he enjoyed traveling and socializing with his dear friend, Mildred Valdez and Family. He looked forward to his weekly domino games and dinners with Pat, Jim, Patty, James, and Mildred. Marcy was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Berla J. Martinez, his parents, Eduardo and Candelaria Martinez, brothers Orlando Martinez, Joe Martinez, and Chris Martinez and grandson Justin N. Martinez. He is survived by his son Randy N. Martinez (Teresa), daughter Brenda K. Flaherty (Randy), brother J.A. "Bino" Martinez and sister Elisa Velasquez (Kelly), 5 grandchildren: Carissa Douglas (Jason), Kaci Ellis (Kennan), Randy N. "Buddy" Martinez (Erikka), Katrina Frohn (Zachary), Devin Flaherty (Cassidy New) and 5 great-grandchildren Adysen, Bostyn, and Camryn Marcee-Anne Martinez and Jaycee and Canyon Douglas. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 22 at St. Joseph's Catholic Parish, 424 N. Mesa Verde in Aztec, Funeral mass at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 23 officiated by Father Kingsley George-Obilonu also at St. Joseph's Catholic Parish, 424 N. Mesa Verde in Aztec with burial following at Aztec Cemetary. Pallbearers are Buddy Martinez, Devin Flaherty, Eddie Martinez, Jeff Martinez, Patrick Martinez, and Phil Valdez. Memorial contributions may be made to the Connelly Hospitality House, 710 S. Lake Street, Farmington, NM 87401.
