Lynn "Carter" Scruggs

Lynn "Carter" Scruggs, 88, a resident of Farmington and most recently a resident of Durango passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Four Corners Health Care Center in Durango. Carter was born May 11, 1928 to John Carter Scruggs and Sarah Maebell Burton Scruggs in Fairfiled, Texas. He was a veteran of the US Army.
Carter was preceded in death by his loving wife Velma Lee Scruggs; son, Doug Scruggs; daughter, Deborah Lee Scruggs Loughridge; parents, John Carter Scruggs and Sarah Maebell Burton; brother, Clarence Howard Scruggs; sisters, Lizzie Mae Crouch, Mary Lee Landers, Jewell Crouch and Ellen Gunter; grandparents, Thomas J. Scruggs and Sarah E. Cagle, and Gilbert D. Burton and Sarah E. Bonner. He is survived by his sons, Michael Scruggs and Fred Scruggs; brothers, Billy Newman Scruggs (Doris) of Fairfield, TX, and Luther Clinton Scurggs (Molly) of Teague, TX; sister, Wille Faye Ward of Fairfield, TX; grandchildren, Jennifer Jones of Farmington; Fred Scruggs (Ashlee) of South Carolina; Chrystal Olhieser (Brandon) of South Carolina and Dean Scruggs of South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Mariah Jones, Glycerine Rea Jones of Farmington; Jordan Olhieser, Dana Olhieser, Kennedy Olhieser, Bryce Olhieser, Ashlynn M. Scruggs, Fredrick R. Scruggs III, Grace N. Scruggs, Hunter D. Scruggs, and Taylor Scruggs of South Carolina.
Funeral services are Saturday, January 14th at 1:00 p.m. at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 East Ute St. in Farmington with Bishop Derek Wethington conducting. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery with full military honors provided by VFW Post #2182 of Farmington.
