Adelida Guadalupe Valdez-Gomez affectionally known as Lupita, Grandma Pita, and Grandma Gomez made her journey to her eternal life on June 18, 2021, at her home in Bloomfield, NM surrounded by her family. Lupita was born on June 27, 1930, in Lumberton, NM to Enrique and Cornelia Valdez.
Her childhood memories included playing marbles with her brothers, herding sheep, and tending to all the work that makes families family. Lupita married Gene Gomez on October 31, 1949, at St. Francis Church in Lumberton, NM. Lupita was a very devoted catholic, who loved her family dearly. Her life was built around hard work, kindness, love empathy, and truth. Lupita was a successful businesswoman who led by example. Lupita's greatest accomplishment was her love and kindness to all humans, and she saw the goodness in everyone. Lupita was the loving mother of 4 children, 4 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Eugenio Gomez (Gene), son Eugene P. Gomez, parents Enrique and Cornelia Valdez, brothers; Daniel, Eustacio, and Jose Albino Valdez.
She is survived by daughters; Elizabeth, Dorthy, and Darlene Gomez. Brother; Alex Valdez (Alice), and sister Lorraine Medellin (Frank), sister-in-law; Teresa Godwin (Glenn). Grandchildren; Heather C. Gomez, Eugene Mitchell Gomez, Chris Valverde (Whitney), Jovanni Barraza-Gomez, great-grandchildren Alexander and Ayden Valverde, Peyton, and Coral Duncan.
Lupita's services will be handled by Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral home in Farmington, NM. The rosary will be at 7 p.m. on June 25, 2021, at St. Francis Church in Lumberton and the funeral mass will be on June 26, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at the Gomez family Cemetery in Dulce, NM.
