Luis "Louie" M. Castillo Jr. passed away on January 20, 2017. He was 71 years of age. He was born on September 27, 1945 in Grants, New Mexico to Luis B. Castillo Sr. and Christina Marez Castillo.
"Louie" retired from the Village of Milan as their Parks and Recreation Director. He had served on the State of New Mexico Recreation Board, the Presbyterian Medical Services Board. He organized the annual talent show for the area youth. He was a longtime youth baseball, basketball and football coach. He had a deep catholic faith and was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, was a past member of the Knights of Columbus. But he will be remembered as a loving family man that was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. A fantastic cook, clock maker, and mechanic. He was deeply loved and will be missed.
He is survived by his wife Stella Jaramillo Castillo. His children: Phillip and his wife Tammy of Grants, Antonette Castillo and her mate Ruben Avila of Grants, Paul Castillo and his wife Andrea of Mansfield, Texas, Terri Jaramillo of Grants, and Fabian Jaramillo also of Grants. 10 grandchildren: Kristopher Restrepo, Austin Restrepo, Dylon Castillo, Santana Sanchez, Cesar Longoria, Madison Castillo, Marcus Baca, Luke Garcia, Elijah Jaramillo, DJ Shoemaker, and Matthew Jaramillo. 2 great-grandsons: Kayden Martinez and Daxton Shoemaker. 2 sisters: Lucille Aragon, and Connie Lopez and her husband Julian. Along with numerous other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Luis Sr. and Christina Castillo. His siblings: Eddie "Eloy" Castillo, Fabiola Fowler, Benito Castillo, Phillip Castillo, Teofilo Castillo, Gloria Boissoneau, and Harry Castillo.
On Monday January 23, 2017 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church beginning at 9:30 am a visitation will be held. At 10:30 am a Rosary will be recited, then at 11:00 am a Mass will be celebrated by Father Alberto Avella. Burial will follow at Grants Memorial Park. A reception will then receive family and friends at the Grants-Milan Elks Lodge.
Pallbearers include: Kristopher Restrepo, Austin Restrepo, Dylon Castillo, DJ Shoemaker, Luke Garcia, Marcus Baca, and Matthew Jaramillo.
Honorary Pallbearers include: His many loved nephews and nieces.
Cope Memorial Chapel of Gallup is entrusted with arrangements.
