Lucy T. Lim March 1, 1917 - Dec. 4, 2015
Lucy Tan Lim, 98, of Aztec, passed away on Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, in Aztec. She was born March 1, 1917, in Palembang, Sumatra, Indonesia, to Tan Hock (father) and Thio Hech (mother). She finished high school in Singapore, where she married. She raised her six children in Singapore and Malaysia. She emigrated to the U.S. in 1971 and made her home in Amarillo, Texas, until 2007, when she moved to Aztec.
Lucy loved gardening and would always have vegetables and fruit trees growing in Malaysia. She continued her garden passion in growing flowers in the U.S.
Lucy was a wonderful cook producing dishes from her home country. Her children and grandchildren looked forward to her Christmas cookies. She was a self taught seamstress being able to sew clothes for her children and herself.
She is remembered for her fierce independence. Her family will always remember her will to try to do things for herself.
Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Lim Hock Kheng and her son, John Hock San Lim. She is survived by her sons, Philip Selva, Peter (Cynthia) Lim; duaghters, Mavis Lim, Rosalind (Steven) Ragsdale and Mary Weber; grandchildren, Michael Ragsdale, Colin Lim, Monty Lim, Lily Lim, Holly Selva, Russell Selva, Robert Weber, Max Weber and Veronica Weber; and great-grandchildren, Alexandria Ragsdale, Corine Ragsdale, Marcus Lim, Kali Anne Weber and Aria Weber.
A visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9 at Cope Memorial Chapel of Aztec.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9 in Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St. in Farmington. A reception will follow at 1116 Graceland Dr. in Aztec.
Pallbearers are Steven Ragsdale, Michael Ragsdale, Philip Selva, Bill Enenbach, Rosemary Enenbach and Max Weber.
