Louise DeGracia Perez

Louise DeGracia Perez, 105, was born on Jan. 30, 1910, in Turley, and passed away on Friday, June 12, 2015, peacefully in Farmington. She was a resident of Bloomfield. Louise graduated from Aztec High School. She married Antonio Perez on Sept. 8, 1930, and they were happily married for 65 years before his death in 1995. She was a homemaker and devoted mother to Ernestine D. (Jim) Lovett (both deceased) and Stephen E. (Janis) Perez. The first eight years of her married life, they lived in Silverton, Colo., and she taught herself to drive while her husband worked in the mines. She drove until she was 97. Louise owned two restaurants in Bloomfield and also worked assisting her husband on his cattle ranch. She helped start Catholic Charities, Birthright, taught CCD, and belonged to Extension Club. Louise judged at the San Juan County Fair. She did welding during World War II. She bowled until she was 94 and golfed until the age of 97. She won several awards for those activities in the Senior Olympics. Louise liked to play cards. She helped many children during her life when they lived on her farm. She sewed her clothes, her children's and others. She received the award for the Oldest Pioneer in Bloomfield in 2003. She was the youngest of 18 siblings of the David and Candelarita (Sanchez) Lobato Family. Louise had two brothers who exceeded 100 years old. Louise was the only daughter to surpass 100. She was also preceded in death by her two great-grandchildren, Gary Fay and John M. Chavez. She is survived by Stephen (Janis) Perez, Gwenda Perez, Camie Perez, Shawn (Mary Helen) Perez, James Perez, Tyler Perez, Meg Mullins, Hunter Perez, Cora Mullins, Michele (Jason) Perez -Christensen, Tristen Perez-Christensen, Melody Perez-Christensen, Shirley (Mark) Perez- Russell, Dennis Fay, Dennis Fay Jr., Noah Fay, Victoria Fay, Eli Fay, Briza Fay, Jasper Fay, Terry Fay, Sylvia Perez- Montoya, Andrea Chavez, Naomi Chavez- Jiron, Derryke Chavez-Jiron, Martin Chavez-Jiron, Payton Chavez-Jiron, Anglo Chavez-Jiron, Marcus Chavez-Jiron-Madrid, Curtis (Mary) Perez-Lovett, Brian Lovett, Jared Lovett, Roman Lovett, Harlan Lovett, Preston Perez-Lovett, Mariah Lovett, Donny Lovett. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A rosary will be recited for Louise at 9 a.m. Friday, June 19 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Bloomfield, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m., with Fr. Frank Chacon as celebrant. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
The pallbearers are her beloved grandsons and great-grandsons, Curtis Lovett, Preston Lovett, Shawn Perez, James Perez, Tylor Perez, Tristen Christensen, Brian Lovett, and honorary pallbearer Hunter Perez.
