Louise Maize, 81, of Sheep Springs, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, in Farmington. She was born April 15, 1933, in Sheep Springs, to Phillip Sam and Genieva Kee'iilini Begay. She was born to Tl'aashchi'i (Red Cheek People) and born for the Honoghaahnii (One Walks Around Clan).
Louise worked as a farmer, electronics technician and seamstress. Her hobbies included weaving, sewing and plastic canvas work. She loved singing, the shoe game, riding songs while ranching with her family. Her children will always cherish her beautiful singing voice.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Maize and her parents
She is survived by her son Lester Maize; daughters, Debbie Maize, Alberta Smallcanyon, Eunice (Joseph) Naranjo, Linda Maize, Freida (Leslie) John and Karen (Wilson) Barber; brother Wallace Johnson; sisters, Elizabeth (George) Lee and Dolly (Paul) Tsosie; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday, July 14, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Second Ward, 473 Road 6100 in Kirtland.
A funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 14, at the church. Burial will be in the Kirtland-Fruitland Cemetery, Road 6575 in Kirtland.
A reception will be at the church.
