Louis (Louie) Tony Faverino
July 9, 1927 - August 31, 2014
Louis "Louie" Tony Faverino, 87, of Bloomfield, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, in Aztec. He was born July 9, 1927, in Bloomfield, to Mike and Mary Faverino. Louie graduated from Aztec High School and went into the U.S. Navy, Aug. 4, 1945, and was stationed in Guam as a Seabee. After his discharge, he attended New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, where he met the love of his life Rosie Macnamara. They went on a blind date and later married May 8, 1950.
Louie was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Rosie; parents, Mike and Mary Faverino; and his brothers, Bill and Glenn. He is survived by his daughters, Mary Morris and Rosemarie (Ernie) Jaquez; sons, Mike (Vicki) Faverino, Bill (Twila) Faverino and Robert Faverino; brother Robert M. Faverino; grandsons, Colter (Janet) Faverino, Colby Faverino, Brandon Jaquez and Brent Jaquez and Sean Laughter; great-grandson Jace Faverino; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Louie was very devoted to his community. He was one of the founders of the Bloomfield Fire Department, served as mayor of Bloomfield, and was a city commissioner. He was a rancher, blacksmith, mechanic and a businessman. Louie was a devoted family man and was willing to help anyone in their time of need. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 307 N. Church St. in Bloomfield.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Farmington Elks Lodge, No. 1747, 801 Municipal Drive.
Pallbearers are John Faverino, Dwayne Faverino, Jimmy "Bo" Faverino, Curtis Wood, Danny Sullivan, Earl North and David Wagoner. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Blancett, Monroe Whitaker, Reed Ferrari, all past and present Bloomfield Fire Fighters; whom he considered his boys.
