Lorene Frances (Long) DeWees went home to be with Jesus and her beloved husband, Loyd Clayton DeWees, on Tuesday morning March 21, 2017. Lorene was born to Nora and Curtis Long on January 5, 1922 in Strong City, Oklahoma. Her mother and father and four brothers all preceded her in death. She married Loyd Clayton DeWees in Strong City, Oklahoma in May, 1939. After living in Albuquerque, Arizona, and Colorado, they came back to Albuquerque where they made their home until 1973 when they moved to Aztec.
Lorene was preceded in death by her daughter, Emma and grandson, Matthew DeWees, and then her husband Loyd. She outlived all of her immediate family and her husband's immediate family. She and Loyd celebrated 71 years of marriage before he went home to be with the Lord in 2010.
Lorene is survived by her two sons, Carl Edward (JoAnn) and Clayton Eugene (Daphne). She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends. A viewing will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, March 25, at World Harvest Center with funeral services following at 2:00pm. Rev. Aaron Parker is officiating. Interment will be in Aztec Cemetery.
