Evelyn "Snooks" Baird, 85, of Aztec passed away Friday, April 26, 2013. Snooks was born March 25, 1928 to John and Lillian WiIIschau in Cebolla, (Gunnison County) Colo.
Snooks attended various schools throughout Colorado and graduated from Ridgway High School in 1947. She was born into a ranching family and loved every minute of it.
On July 8, 1948 she married her high school sweetheart Lanell Baird. They were happily married for 60 years until he passed away in 2008. They enjoyed the simple life of living in remote areas throughout northwest New Mexico and southern Colorado.
Snooks was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, cake decorating, and gathering with friends and especially loved spending time with her granddaughters, Rhonda and Mindy.
Snooks is survived by her son, Ronnie (Donica); grandchildren, Rhonda Danell Zawaski (Dave), Mindy Roman (Brian), Jamie Sharpe (Anne), Mike Sharpe, Jeremy Sharpe (Diana); great-grandchildren, Brock, Brandt, Sarah, Ryan, Wyatt, Weston, Evelyn and Jacklyn. Also survived by Carla Dial, Lavall and Shirley Baird, Shirley Willschau, Bud and Nyla Burkett and extended family.
There will be no service per Snook's request. The family would like to thank everyone who assisted with her care, visits, friendship and support.
