Leona Ann Bardebben, 77, of Bloomfield, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, in Farmington. She was born April 26, 1936, in Denver, Colo.
Leona was a waitress for more than 50 years. It is immeasurable the number of friends she made and the lives she touched. She was kind and caring to everyone, especially the homeless in the community.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband, William Bardebben; her parents, Joseph and Anna Wolny; and 11 siblings. She is survived by her children, Anna Chapman, Evelyn Beeson, Mary Gathings, Carolyn Arnold and Cathy Bardebben; three grandchildren, Nicholas and Amanda Gathings and Jessica Heuser; and two great-grandchildren.
To her children, she was a loving, courageous, kind, and, above all, strong role model.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at St. Mary's Church in Bloomfield. Following the service, there will be a reception provided by the VFW Women's Auxiliary at 2 p.m. at the VFW in Aztec, 201 S. Park Ave.
The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and encouragement.
