Leo Bonificio Romero, 89, of Aztec, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014, in Farmington. He was born June 25, 1924, in Las Trampas, to Bonificio Romero and Maria E. Lopez.

He loved gardening, walking his best friend Tilley. Leo retired from DandRGW Railroad, in 1984 and then from Sac-N-Save, in 1992.

Leo was preceded in death by his son Gilbert Romero; son-in-law, Remy Herrera; his parents; five brothers; and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Mary A. Romero; son, Isaac "Rudy" (Carol) Romero of Farmington; daughters, Verla Herrera of Farmington, Marilyn
(Leonard) Aragon of Cuba and Lorraine (Dennis) Quillen of Farmington; brother, Gerson Romero of Stafford Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, at St.
Joseph's Catholic Church, 500 N. Mesa Verde Ave. in Aztec.

A visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian burial will follow the visitation at 11 a.m., with Father Kingsley as celebrant.

Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, 1606 N. Dustin Ave. in Farmington.

Pallbearers are Steven Brown, Levi Countryman, Dennis DeYoung, Hugo Reyes, Rumaldo Romero and Walter Espiñoza.

Honorary pallbearers are Delfie Valdez, Johnny Martinez, Leonard Aragon and Dennis Quillen.
