Corporal Lance Jeremy Sanchez passed away on January 1, 2020 in Tucson, Arizona, he was 33 years of age. He was born on December 20, 1986 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born into the Bitter Water Clan, born for the Hispanic people.
Corporal Sanchez joined the Marine Corps in September, 2011 and was assigned to Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California. He was Separated in September, 2017 into The Marine Corps Reserve. Before his Separation Corporal Sanchez was stationed at Camp Pendleton as a Combat Marksmanship Trainer, Combat Marksmanship Coach and Infantry Assault Marine. Corporal Sanchez received awards from the Marine Corps for the following; Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, Meritorious Mast Expert Rifle Qualification Badges, Expert Pistol Qualification Badges and Letters of Appreciation. At the time of his death Corporal Sanchez was attending College at the University of Arizona in Tucson. He will be remembered fondly as a kind hearted person who was willing to help anyone who needed his help. He was always joking or playing jokes and had a witty sense of humor. He was unique and epic and there will never be a person so loving and kind.
He is survived by his mother Lavern Sanchez. Sisters; Megan Sanchez and Shannon Sanchez, Brother; Danny Sanchez, Grandmother Margaret Chischilly, many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Tony R. Sanchez, his grandfather; Max Chischilly Sr., his great-grandparents; Frank and Ellen Collins, and cousin; Brandon Chischilly.
On Friday January 10, 2020 at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Gallup, New Mexico, a viewing will be held from 9:30 am - 10:00 am, a Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am and then 10:30 am a Mass will be celebrated by Father Matthew Keller. Interment will follow at the Gallup State Veterans Cemetery in Gallup, New Mexico.
Pallbearers include; Brian Chischilly, Christopher Chischilly, Andrew Havens, Sean Franklin, Morgan Chestnut, Nick Ochs, Corey Smalcer and Dakota Smith.
Honorary Pallbearers include; All of his Marine Brothers from his Unit 1/3 Charlie Co Weapons Platoon.
Cope Memorial Chapel of Gallup is entrusted with arrangements.
