Kelly Sullivan, 53, a longtime resident of Aztec, passed away in the early morning of May 3, 2014, after a long and difficult battle with cancer. She was born on her grandmother's Marguerite's birthday.
Born in Durango, Colo., she was the fourth daughter of Earl B. Sullivan of Aztec and Marcelle Hampton, deceased. She attend school in Aztec for a number of years and graduated from Del Norte High School in Albuquerque. From the years, 1978 to 1981 she attended University of Texas in Arlington.
Lester Maitlen, the love of her life, were partners for 25 years. They opened Kelly's RV Park in 1994 and enjoyed befriending all of their renters. With her pet goats following behind her, she worked hard to make her business grow. Family and friends were Kelly's passion and delight, always ready to give a helping hand. Her signature gift of joy will never be forgotten. She enjoyed riding and training her horses, camping and fishing.
Kelly is survived by her father, Earl; three sisters, Catharine Silva of San Diego, Calif., Marci and Wes Williams and son, also of San Diego; Earleen Sullivan and daughters of Aztec and Margi and Dan Korch and children of Tucson, Ariz.
Upon Kelly's request, there will be no memorial services.
