Julie Anne Owens

August 19, 1964 — December 13, 2015

Julie Anne Owens, 51, of Aztec, was born Aug. 19, 1964, in Albuquerque, to Ted and Anne Brock.
Julie was raised and spent her childhood alongside her brother at Pueblo Alto, where her parents ran a trading post. Julie kept these years dear in her memories, where she lived so closely with family and the land, livestock, lessons and simple purity. She was a barrel racer. As an early teen, she and her family moved to Farmington, then settled in Bloomfield, where she attended Bloomfield High School. There she met her first love and started their young family. Julie enjoyed softball leagues, crocheting, fishing, cooking, working on vehicles and having and loving her pets. She worked different places including Checker Auto Parts, as well as a legal secretary at the D.A.'s office. Throughout working and challenges of life, Julie prided herself in being a tough and determined single mother of four. Most of her years were spent loving and teaching her children and Julie cherished her role as such. She spent recent years welcoming her greatest joys of being a grandmother. Julie was met by the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015. She will be deeply missed by many.
Julie was preceded in death by her son, Tyler W.A. Garlington and her grandparents, Lloyd D. Guy and Elisabeth R. Guy. She is survived by her daughters, Staci A.M. Garlington, Miranda D. Garlington and Serena R. Owens; her parents, Ted and Anne Brock; brother, Vince Morris and his wife, Tammy; sister, Cammie Brock; grandchildren. Charlie Wilson, Robert Ward and Annabel Capps; and her closest friend, Lisa Carpenter and her daughters, Alexis and Kayla.
A memorial service for Julie will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17 at Cross Roads Community Church, 2400 N. Butler Ave. in Farmington, with Pastor Ken Weisheit and Pastor Dave West officiating.
Donations may be made to the Julie Owen's fund at any Wells Fargo bank.
Julie's care is entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel of Aztec, 405 S. Main Ave., 505-334-9332. Those who wish to express their condolences may do so at serenityandcompany.com.
