Judith "Judy" A. Norton-Bennett age 73 of Aztec died Wednesday, Oct.11, 2017 at SJRMC in Farmington, NM. She was born April 18, 1944 in Paonia, Colorado to C. Carmont and Sarah Marguerite Price-Norton. Judy started school in Montrose Colorado and finished elementary through high school in Durango, Co. She earned a Bachelor degree in elementary education from Fort Lewis College and earned her Master's degree at Adams State with a secondary degree in library science. Judy started her teaching career in Dove Creek, Co. for 2 years before moving to Aztec. She taught music for 2 years in the elementary school, then on to 2nd grade at Lydia Rippy Elementary school for the next 26 years. She then continued as a librarian for Sacred Heart Catholic School for 5 years in Farmington before she retired. Judy was active in LaPlata Order of Eastern Star and also become active in Aztec Order of Eastern Star after moving here. She served as Worthy Matron of Aztec Chapter 3 different times. She was an active Past President member and officer in Farmington Assembly of The Social Order of Beaceont member of The Daughters of the Nile, "Does". The NM State Fire Fighters. Association and past president of the NM State Fire Fighters Ladies Auxiliary. Her hobbies were crocheting, embroidery and family history. She was preceded in death by her father Carmout Norton and grandparents Arms G and Judith Belle(Wood) Price, William C and Florence J Belle Norton. Brother-in-law Rick Bennett. She is survived by husband Bert Bennett, mother Sara Marguerite Norton Price. Chosen daughters Kaleia Bounds and Jymi Rogers. Sisters Jane (Ben) Brenham, and Sarah M. (Steve) Helman, Chosen grandchildren Chris Bounds, Charlie Bounds, Catie Rogers, and two nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be Friday Oct.20th at Cope Memorial Chapel in Aztec,, 405 S. Main St. from 6-8pm.
Funeral Services for Judy will be Saturday Oct.21st at First Baptist Church Aztec 700 Navajo Ave. Aztec at 10 A.M officiated by Rod Conover. Also it will include a Social Order of Beauceont services. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens in Farmington with an Eastern Star services.
