Joyce Melba Rose, 92, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at Cedar Ridge Inn in Farmington. She was born September 16, 1922, in Tussy, OK. She married Otis J.R. Rose in 1938 in Konawa, OK.

Joyce is survived by her four children; Jo Rose Brackeen (Burr) of Farmington, Richard D. Rose (Cheryl) of Las Vegas, NV, James D. Rose (Jane) of Missouri City, TX, and Michael L. Rose (Lily) of Farmington; nine grandchildren, Ty Brackeen, Angel Brackeen, Robin Rose Christensen, David Rose, Jennifer Rose, Shari Rose Lim, Jeffory Rose, Sarah Rose Espinoza, and Gabrielle Rose; eleven great-grandchildren; and ten great-graet grandchildren. Also surviving her are her sisters, Fluff Dixon-Smith of Duncan, OK and Julia Powell Smith of Shallowater, TX and sisters -in- laws Eva Rose and Sharon Rose, both of Oklahoma City.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Evelyn Madell Allgood Powell and Jacob Linzy Powell; and husband Otis J.R. Rose.

Joyce retired from the U.S. West in 1987 and treasured attending the phone company Pioneers' luncheons.. She first began working for the phone company in Sterling, CO., and when the family moved to Farmington in 1957, she went to the Mountain Bell office on North Allen. In 1964 they moved to Indian Springs, NV, where Otis worked at the Neveda Test Site. They returned to Farmington for good in 1974, and she resumed her employment with Mountain Bell. Joyce was a long-time member of Pinon Hills Community Church.

Services for Joyce will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Alternative Choice Funeral Home, 804 N. Dustin Avenue, in Farmington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you honor Joyce's life with a donation to the San Juan Center for Independence or a charity of your choosing.
