Joyce Elizabeth (Lee) Donald

A beautiful life, well lived... Joyce Elizabeth Lee Donald passed from this world to the next, on Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, leaving behind a legacy that will linger on. Joyce was born Jan. 13, 1927, in Cleveland, Ohio, area where she lived for many years. She and her husband, Harry, later moved to Albuquerque and then on to Farmington in 1979. Since that day, she worked to enrich the lives of thousands of people in San Juan County and beyond. Her more than 30-year association with the Better Business Bureau is legendary. Using that organization to reach into the community, she was deeply involved in the welfare of people in this area. Joyce's ""projects"" included extensive work with the San Juan County Rotary, Leadership San Juan, the Four Corners Conference for Professional Development, the All Veterans Memorial Park, the Four Corners Vietnam War Monument, the Regional Animal and Pet Shelter Project, the Anasazi Foundation, the Freedom Days Parade, the Farmington Chamber of Commerce, the United Way and many more groups over the years. Her awards were many and varied: First woman in the state of New Mexico to join Rotary, Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year, Four Corners Conference Woman of the Year, Rotary's Paul Harris Award, Farmington Chamber's Historymakers Hall of Fame, Navajo Ministries ""Celebrity Roast"" and many other acknowledgements of the work she did daily.Joyce's legacy lives on through the many people's lives that she touched over the years. She constantly worked to help people attain their goals, and she made each person feel like they were part of her ""family."" Everyone knew her, loved her and wanted to do the good things that she asked them to help her accomplish. Ever a mother, mentor and a friend... ""To live, to love, to learn, to leave a legacy... "" Stephen Covey Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Donald; son, Bruce Donald; and daughter, Diane Martin.She is survived by her grandchildren, Chase Donald and Ryan Martin; daughter-in-law, Janice Donald; son-in-law, Lary Martin; and her special friends, Roger Sheak, Debbie Gent, Nancy Shepherd, and half the population of San Juan County.A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17, at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home in Farmington.A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, at the Farmington Civic Center, 200 W. Arrington St. in Farmington.Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. at the Civic Center.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the San Juan Rotary Club, P.O. Box 2105, Farmington, NM 87499; the Regional Animal and Pet Shelter Foundation, Inc., 4409 Sandia Court, Farmington, NM 87401; or to the nonprofit agency of your choice.Joyce's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E.
