Josephine B (Valdez) Martinez

Josephine B. Martinez, 88, of Farmington, joined her husband, son and other loved ones in their heavenly home on Saturday, March 11, 2017 in Farmington surrounded by her children, who deeply loved and cared for her. Josephine was born to Merejildo Valdez and Emelia Velasquez-Valdez on March 17, 1928 in Coyote, NM. On July 17, 1951 she married the love of her life, Raymond Martinez, they had seven children and raised them in the Catholic faith. She had four brothers and two sisters whom she dearly treasured. Josephine was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Farmington. She had a devotion to St. Mary our blessed mother by praying her daily rosary. She was active in the Legion of Mary, the altar society and dedicated "Holy Hour" of the blessed sacrament. Josephine was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She worked for many years as a nurse assistant for San Juan Manor which lead her to become a private caretaker and at the same while still be a homemaker. Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Martinez; son, Raymond Jr; both her parents; sister, Avenilde Lopez; brothers, Pedro and Vidal Valdez; mother-in-law, Epimena (Narciso) Chacon; father-in-law Presciliano Martinez; sisters-in-law, Connie and Polly Valdez; brothers-in-law, Eustavio Martinez, Joe Lopez and Jose Maria Martinez; and numerous beloved family and friends. She is survived by 6 of her children, Pres Martinez, Hildo Martinez, Sam Martinez, Yvonne Martinez, Yolanda Briley and Ernie Martinez; sister, Sergen Martinez; brothers, Delfinio and Fermino (Julia) Valdez; 12 grandchildren, Darcia (Johnny), Ryan, Rayanna (Curtis), Brandon, Bobby Jr, Sam Jr, Frank, Jerod (Pam), Pres Jr, Michael, Matthew, Camron; great grandchildren, Jordan, Gabriella, Alicia, Nico, Anthony, Andrew, Madison, Austin, Taylor, Kayla, Alyssa and Andrew. Cremation has already taken place. A rosary will be held on Saturday, March 18, at 12:30pm with a Funeral Mass immediately following at 1:00pm at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2100 E. 20th St. in Farmington. Father Frank Chacon will be officiating the Mass. Inurnment will take place immediately following the Mass at 2:00pm at St. Mary's Columbarium behind St. Mary's Catholic Church. Josephine's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St., in Farmington, (505)325-8688.
