Jose "Max" Candelaria, 86, a resident of Bloomfield, passed away on Tuesday January 10, 2017. He was born June 5th, 1930, to Jose and Anistasita Velasquez Candelaria in Rosa, NM where he grew up. He attended school until the 8th grade, where he then went to work for his parents and siblings. He entered the Army, and was stationed in Germany, at the end of the Korean Conflict. Upon return, Max worked for El Paso Natural Gas, for thirty-one years, from Carracas to Ojito. In his free time, Max enjoyed farming and raised a beautiful garden while sharing produce with friends and family. He was not a man of many words, but of very kind deeds. Max was a beloved father, grandfather and mentor to many and will be greatly missed. Max was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Josephine (LaLa) Gutierrez, Lupe Marquez, brothers: Jose Demetrio (Demis) and Carlos Candelaria He is survived by his sons Rudy (Rhonda), and Larry (Deanna) Candelaria, sister: Mary Jane Griego, brothers: Rudy, Donald and Steve Candelaria, grandchildren: Laci, Colter, Cali, Donnie, Melissa, Nicholes and Lindsay. A rosary will be at 7:00 pm, Monday, January 16, at St Mary's Catholic Church 307 N. Church in Bloomfield, the Mass for Max will be on Tuesday, January 17, at 10:00 am, also at St. Mary's in Bloomfield, with Father James Walker as celebrant. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 6917 E. Main, Farmington with Military Honors by VFW Post 2182. Pallbearers are Donnie Candelaria, Colter Candelaria, Jim Fine, Joe Romero, Mike McCown and Mark Herrera. Max's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E.
