Jose Porfirio Alcon, 82, of Farmington, formerly of Bloomfield, passed from this life on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at his home in Farmington. He was born Feb. 14, 1931 in Tapecitas, to Casimiro and Procopia Alcon.
He was the second child born to Casimiro and Procopia. He had seven brothers and three sisters.
Jose was the most loving person on earth. He loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ above all. He had an unfailing love for his family and anyone with whom he came in contact with. He had a passion for sharing the word of God. He knew what day to be born on, St. Valentine's Day, because he was so full of love. Jose was the pastor of The Seal of God Church in Bloomfield. He worked from the time he was nine years old until he turned 80. He retired from Basin Disposal after several years of service. He enjoyed reading his Bible daily, being on the golf course and telling jokes.
Jose lived life to the fullest and will be forever in our hearts.
He is survived by his wife of 59 1/2 years, Mary Rose Alcon; sons, Larry (Georgiann) Alcon, Jerry (Maryann) Alcon, Donald (Bertha) Alcon, Joseph (Teresa) Alcon and Randy (Tiffany) Alcon; daughters, Henrietta (Mike) Martinez, Lillian Alcon, Velma (Adrian) Trillo and Linda Alcon; brothers, Desiderio Alcon, Pres Alcon, Alex Alcon, and Abel Alcon; and his sisters, Cordilia Brown, Edwina Knight and Dolores Klink.
Jose was preceded in death by his parents, Casimiro and Procopia Alcon; brothers, Casey Alcon, Horacio Alcon and Sigfredo Alcon; and one granddaughter, Jolene Alcon.
A viewing will be from Saturday evening, Feb. 1, to Sunday evening, at the home of Donald and Bertha Alcon, 27 Road 3291, in Aztec.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, at World Harvest Center, 1024 N. Butler Ave. in Farmington.
Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St. in Farmington.
Pallbearers are Jerry Alcon, Donald Alcon, Joseph Alcon, Randy Alcon, Leon Serrano and Brad Alcon.
Honorary pallbearers are Jordan Alcon and Riley Alcon.
