John Wayne "JW" Hutchins

May 10, 1968 — March 23, 2016

John Wayne "JW" Hutchins, 47, left the world suddenly on March 23, 2016. "The Hutch" began his golfing legacy as a young boy on the fairways of Civitan Golf Course, and at one time, held the record for every course in San Juan County. He graduated from Farmington High School in 1986, and was awarded a golf scholarship at WNMU, where he eventually learned he would become a dad. He became a single father in 1990, and turned his passion for family poker night into a successful career. He dealt thousands of laughs, and touched many hearts on the gaming circuit. In 2007 he hit the jackpot when he met his soulmate and the love of his life, Ardell, who he married in 2008. Together they moved to Florissant, CO in 2013, where he worked for Wildwood Casino, renewed his passion for the outdoors, and furthered his gift for phonetic piano playing. JW melted many hearts, young and old alike, without ever having whispered a word. He touched countless lives and helped heal many broken hearts through his music, yet he never learned to read a single note. His songs were inspired from love, can never be duplicated, and will live on forever in our hearts, as will his memory.
Grieving his loss are his wife, Ardell, who held him gently as he said goodbye, the mother he adored, Marilyn Hutchins, father Roy Hutchins, daughter, Angie Hutchins, sister, Julie Montano (Tony), grandsons, Colby, Cadence, and Cameron, "sibling" cousins, Keith Crawford, Rhonda DiMartino, and Steve Crawford, nephews Logan and Tyler, in-laws Harry, Chris and Shelby Frazer, not to mention countless friends, golf buddies and co-workers.
JW was mostly a lifelong resident of Farmington, NM, living shortly in Denver during the 90's, returning to Farmington and then returning recently to Colorado. He had an uncanny ability to make people laugh, often leaving us on the floor or in tears. JW loved Family, reaching out to those in need, cooking, poker, gardening, golfing, fishing, video games, and Taco Bell. Those who knew and loved him are invited to celebrate his life, laughter, and love at Mountain Vista Baptist Church in Farmington, NM on April 10th at 4:00 P.M.
JW's care is entrusted to the Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St. in Farmington, 505-325-8688.
