John Edward Gardenhire Sr., 66, of Farmington, entered heaven on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, in Farmington. He was born Feb. 24, 1946, in Abilene, Texas, to Joe and Gladys Gardenhire.
John moved to Farmington in 1958. He graduated from Farmington High in 1964 and married his wife, Donna the same year. He was a General Contractor for most of his life and built many homes and buildings in New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona and California.
John loved to spend time with his family. He had a heart of gold and will be missed by so many.
John was preceded in death by his son, John Gardenhire Jr.; his parents, Joe and Gladys Gardenhire; his brother, Fred Gardenhire and great-granddaughter, Trinity Kelley.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Donna Gardenhire; his kids, Jeff and Bonnie Gardenhire, Denise and Tony Lovato, Debbie and Myles Mclemore and Daphne Brislin; his brothers, Bud Gardenhire, Bert and Lois Gardenhire and Jim and Taffy Gardenhire; sisters, Joann Jones, Sandie and Ray Gates and Linda Shull; his grandkids, Brooke, Bailey and Jeff Eli Gardenhire, Holly and Billy Kelley, Lindsie, Ashley and Tommy Akins, Ammber, Raechell, Haleigh, Ashleigh and Ty Lovato, Daisey and Mikey Mclemore and Megan, Cailey and Emma Brislin and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He held a special place in everyone's heart.
Services for John will be 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 7, at Crossroads Community Church, 2400 North Butler Ave in Farmington, officiated by Pastor Dave West.
Grave side service will follow at Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers are Gary Huntington, Keith Bramblette, Jimmy Ketron, Jay Riley, Rusty Donham and Ray Gates.
John's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St. in Farmington, 505-325-8688.
