John Beshara, 65, of Waterflow, N.M. passed away unexpectedly Friday, Sept. 29, 2017.
He was born Nov. 26, 1951, in Deadwood, S.D., to his parents, the late Helmar and Marie (Whalen) Beshara. John grew up in Rapid City, S.D. and graduated from Central High School in 1970. He survived the Rapid City flood of 1972 on a roof top.
John worked a variety of jobs in Rapid City, including construction foreman, until he made a trip with friends to New Mexico and Arizona in 1978. His brother-in-law in New Mexico offered him a job at Big Rock Trading Post where he worked for the past 39 years. During this time, he met his future wife Cheryle Beshara and they were married for 34 years. She preceded him in death January 6, 2016. John loved playing golf and was an avid sports fan. There was not often a place you could go where someone didn't know him. John touched many lives and was loved by all his friends, fellow employees and customers at Big Rock Trading Post. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to his wife and parents, John was preceded in death by his brother Michael Beshara, sister Rose Justice and brother-in-law Ed Olsen.
John is survived by his step-daughter, Chandra Beers and her husband, Steven of Houston, Texas; his step-son, Chad Harris of Amarillo, Texas. His brothers Bill Beshara and wife Sandy, Paul Beshara, Steve Beshara and his wife Mary, all of Rapid City, S.D. His sisters Marie Hovland and husband Jim of Sioux Falls, S.D., Pat Olsen of Bishop, Calif., Sharon Dickens and husband Charles of Waterflow, N.M., Mary Sall and husband Doug of Yankton, S.D., and Joan Freiburg and her husband Karl of Norway, Mich. His four grandchildren Matthew Powers, Hayden Harris, Harley Harris, Charris Powers and several nieces and nephews who will carry him in their hearts always.
A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8th, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 414 N. Allen Ave. in Farmington.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 9th at Sacred Heart Church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the incredible friend, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and man he was.
