Joe D. Valencia, 88, a longtime resident of Farmington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, July 24, 2015. He was born on Feb. 4, 1927, in San Luis, to Felipe and Agatha Valencia.Joe was a retired El Paso Natural Gas Company employee of 30 years. He was most at home enjoying God's gifts of nature while golfing, hunting and fishing. Joe also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his wife of 67 years, Nora Valencia. Their life together was a testament to the sacrament of marriage. This unconditional love overflowed and enriched the lives of their family and friends. Joe personified generosity by always extending a warm welcome to all who entered his home and life. Joe leaves behind a legacy of faith and love. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Agatha and Felipe Valencia; brother, Luis Valencia; sisters, Lugardita Hardy, Gloria Valencia and Mary Archibeque; and great-grandson, Avery Patrick Overson. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 29 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 414 N. Allen Ave. in Farmington. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 30, also at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Farther Frank Chacon as celebrant. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St. in Farmington.Pallbearers are Christopher Tafoya, Jon Tafoya, Dominic Austin, Aaron Gaudin, Charles Cliff and Paul Arellano.
