Bloomfield
Joanne D. O'neal
June 15, 2015
Joanne Denise Edwards O'neal, 61, earned her heavenly wings on Wednesday, June 15, 2015, in Farmington. She was born in Kingston, N.Y., to Joseph and Mary Edwards. She leaves behind the love of her life and soul mate Terry O'neal of Bloomfield; her daughter, Julia Thornton and 5 1/2 month old granddaughter, Aurelia, both of Farmington; her father Joseph Edwards; sister Kay; and brother John Edwards, all of New York; and many, many friends. Her mother Mary Louise Hutton, preceded her in death.
She and Terry met in 1989 and were married on July 17, 1993. Terry was her soul mate. They were inseparable, taking many trips on his Harley. She loved the open road and the many friends they would go to see.
Joanne was a diehard Denver Broncos fan to the end. She knew everyone and everything about her team. She would have friends calling her on game day and ask her who was going to win. I think they knew what her answer would be. She sported her many Bronco jerseys and T-shirts proudly. You would rarely see her without one on.
Joanne's newest chapter in her life began in January, when she became a grandma. Her granddaughter Aurelia, had her heart from day one. She loved her more than life itself. Although their time together was cut short, she enjoyed the 5 1/2 months with her and often referred to her as her greatest joy.
Joanne was a simple woman. She didn't have a lot but she had everything. She never met a stranger. You instantly loved her. She was so thoughtful and cared for people unlike many. She would take Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter dinner to people who had no one. She never forgot either. She had many, many friends who will never forget her kindness and wonderful soul.
A celebration of her life will be held at noon on Saturday, July 18, at the VFW Post 614, 201 S. Park Ave. in Aztec, followed by a potluck.
