Jo Evelyn Stroup
Jo Evelyn Stroup, 77, of Bloomfield, N.M. passed away February 7, 2016 in Aztec, N.M. She was born on October 17, 1938 in Oscuro, New Mexico to Ernest and Grace Yandell. Jo Stroup grew up in Corona, New Mexico where she graduated in 1956. She married James Bradley Waresback following graduation and moved to the 4 Corners area. (Thoreau, NM) in 1957 where they lived in a EPNG camp house. Jo began working for the federal government where she worked for 38 years before retiring in 1994 as a supervisor / manager for Social Security Admin. She loved the outdoors and had a cabin in Creede Colorado which she generously shared with friends and family. She loved to read and was a fabulous cook and seamstress. Most of all she loved her family and friends. She loved animals and always had several pets most of which she rescued from the pound or that she found stray. She wished any donations be made to Farmington Animal Shelter 133 Browning Parkway, Farmington, New Mexico for the Doggie Play Park. She is preceded in death by her husband J.B. Stroup and ex husband of 35 years Jim Waresback, parents Ernest and Grace Yandell, brother Everett Yandell, and grandparents Monroe and Hettie Yandell and Alva and Mae Bivens. Jo is survived by her son Damon(Teresa) Layne, daughter Jo Beth (Don) Fritz, sister Carolyn Yandell Mitchell, grandchildren Dane, Bradley (Roxanne) Sara (Alex Fogassy), Gracie, Logan, Mattie, Katie, great- grandchildren Jaxon, Sophia Claire (Due in April) and Evelyn Grace or Thomas Elijah (Due in August). A funeral service for Jo will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist in Bloomfield New Mexico with officiant Kathy Potter. Jo care is entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel in Farmington New Mexico.
