Jimmy J. Parker, 83, of Flora Vista, passed away on June 21, 2016. Jimmy was born on July 9, 1932 to John F. and Lucille Hall Parker in Beaver County, Oklahoma.
Jim's family moved to New Mexico and then to Colorado where they homesteaded and became farmers on Florida Mesa. He graduated from Durango high school in 1951 and joined the marines and served during the Korean War. Jimmy married May Ann Park in 1953 and they had three children. Jim spent most of his career in the mobile home sales business. He worked in Denver, CO., and Rock Springs and Cheyenne, WY. In 1973 he moved the family back to Durango and opened his own mobile home sales, Key Lock Mobile Homes. In 1982 he closed the business and moved to Farmington. Jim and May Ann worked for 7-11 in Farmington and in 1985 moved to Kayenta, AZ to manage the 7-11 for 18 years. They retired in 2003 and moved back to Farmington. Jim is a lifetime member of the Elks Club and his recent hobbies included woodworking and target shooting.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucille Parker; his sisters, Denha Raley and Sylvia Cowan.
Jim is survived by his wife, May Ann Parker; sons, Jim Parker and Tim Parker; daughter, Debra Crosser; brothers, Scott Parker and Larry Parker; sister, Nancy Rex; grandchildren, Jenny Parker Deeter, Brent Parker, Ian Crosser, Spencer Crosser; great-grandchildren, Parker Deeter, Pryce Deeter, Dylan Parker, Ryland Parker.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00PM, Thursday, June 30, 2016 at the Elks Lodge 801 N. Municipal Dr. in Farmington, NM. Memorials or donations may be made to American Cancer Society.
