Jimmie Elton Johnson

Jimmie E. Johnson, 79, of Aztec, died on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, in Aztec. He was born care April 12, 1933 in Reed, Okla. to Roy and Kattie Johnson.
Jimmie moved to Aztec in 1959 to help build Navajo Dam, as a heavy equipment operator with Local 953. He married Lenore Thomas in 1974 and they traveled throughout the southwest working and traveling. His job eventually took him to Alaska and his love for the state lead to many more trips for both leisure and employment.
Jimmie was a cowboy through and through and enjoyed watching western movies and listening to country music.
He was of good heart and helped his family and many friends throughout his lifetime. He will be greatly missed.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his wife, Lenore Johnson; son, Trenton Bible; his parents; brothers, Ace, Vernon, Teddie and George Johnson and sister, Addie Stallcup.
He is survived by his children, James (Louetta) Johnson, Terrie Johnson, Audie Bible, Susan (Jim) Roberts, Robert Bible and Randy (Trish) Bible; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, at Cope Memorial in Aztec with James Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St. in Farmington.
Pallbearers are Jack Crowder, Cody Hockenhull, Jim Roberts, John Valdez, Mike Zwiefel and Dan Rhodes. Honorary pallbearer is Don Zellner.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Basin Home Health and Hospice.
Jimmie's care is entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel of Aztec, 405 S. Main Ave., in Aztec 505-334-9332.
