Proverbs 31:10-31
"She is far more precious than jewels; her value is far above rubies or pearls...
"Mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Jewel Cowley, 94, of Farmington, fought the mind-lonely battle of Alzheimer's and went to be with her Heavenly Father on March 31, 2016. She was born on October 27, 1921 to Joe and Erna Wynns in San Antonio, TX.
Jewel was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 60 years, R.B. Cowley of Freer, TX.
She is survived by her daughter, Candy Alexander (John); her grandchildren Jennifer Lee and Robert (Christy) Alexander; and great grandchildren Britney, Aiden, Preston, Madelynn and Malachi.
"A woman who reverently and worshipfully fears the Lord Shall be praised... "
Her daughter, Candy counted her as a blessing. Each moment with her was considered as a precious treasure. "She was a joy for which to care." Jewel entered each day and decided to make the choice to rejoice.
Her daughter and grandchildren praised her for the foundation of faith in Christ that she shared. Through many prayers and tears, she always supported them.
"Give her the fruits of her hands and let her own works praise her in the gates... "
Her life was centered around her family and churches, First Baptist Church of Freer, TX, and Emmanuel Baptist in Farmington. Her love to share God's love was fulfilled through her work and devotion to Sunday School, G.A.'s and Y.W.A.'s. Even at Life Care these last three years, she still witnessed to others by being sweet and kind to all. She always wanted to help others and stay busy. When people told Candy how sweet her mom was, she would answer, "It's because she has the Lord in her life."
A Celebration of Jewel's life will be at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, April 5th at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 211 W. 20th Street, in Farmington.
Jewel's care is entrusted to the Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St. in Farmington, 505-325-8688.
