Jeffrey Scott Pettit

Jeffrey Scott Pettit, 62, longtime resident of Rio Rancho, died on Thursday morning, Dec. 21, 2017, as a result of complications from ALS more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. He was born Aug. 19, 1955, in Kansas City, Mo. He worked as a metrologist for National Calibration, Inc. for more than 20 years. On March 12, 1977, he married Desirae. Family and community were essential cornerstones of Jeffrey's life and he was known for his open door and warm generosity. Jeffrey was a devoted grandfather and an avid woodworker. He enjoyed crafting personalized items such as plaques and pens for friends and family. Jeffrey was a passionate Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching football in his spare time. He was also a baseball enthusiast who enjoyed attending the Connie Mack World Series in Farmington each year. Jeffrey was a very patriotic individual and was fond of the American flag, bald eagles, and the fourth of July. He was a spiritual man who enjoyed listening to Christian radio and donating to worthy causes. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and those who knew him through his work and hobbies. Jeffrey was preceded in death by his parents, Medford and Ann; and his son, Christopher. He is survived by his wife, Desirae; his children, Anthony, Lindy, Shawn, Matthew and Austin; his grandchildren, Christian, Felicity, Keaton, Rex, Corbin and Ryland; his sisters, Teri and Patti; and his brother, Brian. A memorial service for Jeffrey will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29 at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 2400 Southern Blvd. SE in Rio Rancho. Jeffrey's wife and children will be sharing memories of him at the service. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at the Kirtland-Fruitland Cemetery, 59 Road 6575 in Kirtland.
