Jeanne Berhost
April 3, 1939 - Dec. 6, 2015
Jeanne accepted the call to go home on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2015, after battling a lengthy illness. She was lovingly surrounded by her family. Jeanne was born April 3, 1939, to Jon and Bertha (Amen)Hergenreter, in Denver, Colo. Jeanne met Paul Berhost while in high school and they were wed on Aug. 10, 1957, after her graduation from St. Anthony's in Sterling, Colo. They made a home and began a new chapter of life in Farmington.
Jeanne loved good parties, good food and lively debates. She loved to draw and paint, grow and give beautiful flowers. She was a sports fan, especially of football and baseball. Jeanne deeply valued the many friendships she made along her journey and in return, they nourished her spirit. She will be missed by all, most especially by her dear friend and sister in Christ, Mary Williams.
Above all else, Jeanne led a devoted life, dedicated to the Catholic tenets of faith, humility, charity, kindness, giving and self-discipline. She volunteered countless hours to Birthright and Daily Bread. She was very involved with the Cursillo movement. Jeanne taught religious education classes and sponsored many new converts to the Catholic faith. Jeanne was instrumental in starting the Women in Faith group, as well as Grief Recovery classes. She joyfully sang in St. Mary's music group, until her illness no longer allowed her do so.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; her parents; infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth; great-granddaughter, Faith Triplett; son-in-law, Cody Goslar; and brother-in-law, Thomas Weingardt. She is survived by her eight children, Lynn (Howard) Collier, Mark (Carol) Berhost, Janine (Peter) Emery, Kevin (Kelly) Berhost, Scott (Clarice) Berhost, Chris (Cindi) Berhost, Amy Goslar, Andrew (Serena) Berhost; 33 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; siblings, Sharon Weingardt, Jon (Judy) Hergenreter, Marianne (Mike) Lynch, Patrick (Susan) Hergenreter, Mike (Dixie) Hergenreter, Nancy (Randy) Hammond, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Jeanne will be at 6 p.m. with a rosary to follow at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2100 E. 20th St. in Farmington.
Mass of Christian life will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11 also at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Farmington with Father Frank Chacon as celebrant and Deacon Frank Chavez presiding.
