Jean Begaye Johnson

Jean Johnson, 54, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, in Shiprock. She was born Nov. 6, 1958, in Shiprock to Theodore and Thelma Begay. She was of the Waterflowing together Clan born of the Red Streaking into the Water Hopi People.
Jean worked for the Central Consolidated School District for 20-plus years in Shiprock. In the earlier years, she worked with Taco Bell, Burger Mart, and Beclabito Chapter. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie and dear friend. Above all, a true child of God. She loved helping everyone.
Jean was preceded in death by a daughter, Zerelina Norma Johnson; her parents, Thelma and Theodore Begay and brothers, David Begay, Roger Begay and Willie Begay.
She is survived by her husband, Norman W. Johnson; sons, Nataanii Johnson and Reuben Johnson; daughters, Shundiin Johnson and Natissa Johnson. Also surviving are brothers Cecil Begay, Richard T. Begaye, Tom Begay and Robert Begay, Sr. and sisters, Mary T. Begay-John and Hazel Lee and four grandchildren.
Funeral services for Jean will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Deeper Faith Ministries in Kirtland with Rev. Tena R. Siow-Yazzie officiating. Interment will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kelsey Lizer, Brandon Sion-Yazzie, Robbie Begay, Robert Begay, Jr., Rubert Begaye, Aaron Begaye, Jeremiah Jim and Joey Jim. Honorary Pallbearers are Nataanii Johnson, Reuben Johnson, Davin Benally, Robert Begay, Sr., Richard T. Begaye, Cecil Begay, Tom Begay and Vervon John.
Jean is in the care of Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute Street in Farmington, (505) 325-8688.
