Jared Dion Tafoya passed away in Grants, New Mexico on October 23, 2014. He was 34. He was born on September 7, 1980 to David Tafoya and Rosemary Melonas Tafoya.
He graduated from Grants High School in 1999. He had worked in several area businesses including Diamond G hardware, and DJ's Pizza, MCI, T-Mobile, Sprint and Hospah Drilling. He was currently employed by Stewart Brothers drilling Company as a Driller. He was active and enjoyed softball, basketball, baseball, football, swimming, fishing and hunting even though he didn't like to harm the animals. He enjoyed mechanical and electrical repairs on everyone's cars and he loved to ride his 4-wheeler. He will be remembered for his warm smile, his big heart, his strength, his famous BBQ Master role, the jokes he told , that made everyone smile, the way he loved to hold all the babies, his love of Ice cream, but mostly the love and pride he had for his family, especially his children and his brothers.
Jared is survived by his children; Kylie and Isaiah Tafoya of San Juan, New Mexico. His parents; David and Rosemary Tafoya of Grants. His brothers; Isaac Tafoya and his wife Lucinda, and Adrian Tafoya. His paternal grandmother; Helen Tafoya. His nephews and nieces; Alethea, Gabriella, and Isaac Jr., His aunts and uncles; Anthony Melonas, Esther Melonas, Dolores and Karl Ahlheim, Michael and Michelle Tafoya, Leroy Tafoya, Brenda and Johnny Urioste, Debbie and Anthony Dominguez, along with numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather; Ignacio Tafoya. His maternal grandparents; Anthony and Mary Melonas.
On Thursday October 30, 2014 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, at 10:00 am a public visitation will be held, a Rosary will be recited at 10:30 am, then at 11:00 am a Mass will be celebrated by Father Michael Vigil. Interment will follow at Grants Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and family at the Knights of Columbus Hall following the graveside services.
Pallbearers include; David Tafoya, Isaac Tafoya, Adrian Tafoya, Michael Tafoya, Anthony Melonas, Jerry Sanchez, Juan Almanza, and Alfred Rael.
Honorary Pallbearers include; his family and many friends.
Cope Memorial Chapel of Gallup, NM is entrusted with arrangements.
