Janet Rohde Eskins, 63, of Farmington, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, in Farmington. She was born March 7, 1952, in Bartlesville, Okla.

Janet Rohde Eskins It is with great sadness we announce the passing of on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, at San Juan Regional Medical Center with her husband, Paul and sister, Judy, by her side. She was born on March 7, 1952, in Bartlesville, Okla., and graduated from Bartlesville High School in 1970. She graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics in 1974.
In Farmington, Janet taught at Heights Junior High and Hermosa Junior High. During her time as a teacher she earned two graduate degrees in curriculum development and computers in education from NMSU and Lesley College respectively. In 2001, she became an FMS district technology specialist.
During her 41 year career with Farmington Municipal Schools Janet brought a wealth of knowledge that helped make Farmington schools one of the most technologically advanced school districts in the Southwest. She was both a Computer Grant Award and Teacher Dream Fund Grant winner and she attended the prestigious National Science Foundation seminar at the University of Arizona. Janet was a state-wide trainer of teachers and a board member of the Association of NM Middle School Educators.
Janet was also an active member of Good Shepherd Church and a delegate to the National Presbyterian Assembly. She also was a member of the Wannabees quilters.
It was in Farmington she met and married the love of her life Paul Eskins and became mother to Heather Eskins Zaffery on March 18, 1978. Both Paul and Janet traveled far and wide from Alaska to Maine. The last few years she compiled an impressive genealogy of her family.
Janet is survived by husband; Paul; daughter; Heather Zaffery (Nick); grandsons, Nicholas (Sarah) and John; and great-granddaughter, Faye of Titusville, Fla.; sister, Judy (Ron) Stevens; and nieces, Alison and Sara of Chicago; brother, Doug (Karen) of Grand Prairie, Texas; and nephew, Kirk and Tricia; and brother, Gary (Denice); and nephew, Daniel and Kristen (Daniel); JoPat and Forrest Wellman of Rio Rancho; many grand nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Janet will be forever missed by her dear friends in Farmington and around the state and her many students and colleagues. She was kind, loving, gracious, and generous-a treasure to those of us who knew and loved her. Janet will always be in our hearts.
Janet's ashes were scattered at Ghost Ranch in a private ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 1.
A public celebration of Janet's life will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 10, at the CATE Center (rooms 2 and 4) for her family, friends, colleagues and students.
