Jack Harlan Morrison Obituary
In loving memory of Jack Harlan Morrison who went to be with the Lord on January, 14, 2015. He was born on October, 11, 1925, in Picher, Oklahoma, to Cecil Cyrus and Alice Maude Morrison. They moved to Southgate, California when he was two years old. They moved to Tucson, Arizona for his senior year of high school. Jack graduated from University of Arizona with a B.S degree in education, with a Science major. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korea, where he served as a second Lieutenant, Radar officer on a B-29. He had 27 completed missions. He was employed by Wyeth Pharmaceuticals for 10 years in Los Angeles, CA, before moving his family to Farmington, NM, in 1960, to partner in the grocery business with his father and brother, and later was owner, of Discount Market. He also sold real estate after receiving his license in 1992. He enjoyed serving in the community: 48 years in Civitans; New Mexico Mounted Patrol (commissioned as a Lieutenant in 1980); Museum Foundation Board member and volunteer; judge at County Fair for 35 years; Parent Teacher Association (various capacities, including president); Sciad (Science Advisor in schools, sponsored by Sandia Labs); Science fair judge; Project Read volunteer; and he was a 32 degree Mason. He loved camping, fishing, hunting, hiking, four wheeling, and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Martha; brother Cay/Daphne; his daughter Merrille/Frank Webb, daughter Merion/Rex Haworth; son Brad Morrison; and Caroline Morrison, the mother of his children. He enjoyed the added blessing of his stepson, Douglas Dodd/Julie (of Florida), and step daughter, Marsha Dodd. He has six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. We love you and we will miss you. Visitation is Friday, January 16th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 East Ute St. Funeral services are Saturday, January 17th at 10:30 a.m. at Eastside Church of Christ, 2012 Huntzinger Ave. in Farmington. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery with full military honors being provided by VFW Post #2182 of Farmington. Memorial contributions may be made in Jack's name to the Farmington Museum Foundation, PO Box 115, Farmington, NM 87499.
