Ivin Leroy Palmer

June 21, 1936 — January 16, 2018

Ivin Leroy Palmer, 81, of Flora Vista, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, in Flora Vista. He was born June 21, 1936, in Farmington.

At age 11, Ivin moved to Tiffany, Colo. He graduated from Ignacio Schools in 1954. He loved sports! After school Ivin joined the U.S. Army National Guard. In 1956, he served a Mission for the LDS Church, for 2 1/2 years, in Guatemala. He met and married the love of his life, Elma Caroline Harris, in 1961, in the Manti, Utah Temple.

Ivin and Elma raised eight children in Tiffany. Ivin had a passion for the outdoors and spent his life farming, cutting post, irrigating, raising hay, livestock and growing beautiful gardens. Ivin had a deep love for the Southern Ute Tribal Culture. For many years, he leased Tribal farmland and drove bus for Ignacio Schools.

Ivin was preceded in death by his mom and dad, nine brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, all eight children and their spouses, 35 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, seven sisters and one brother.

A funeral service for Ivin will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 27, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 505 N. Oliver Drive in Aztec, with Bishop Paul Mitchell officiating.

Pallbearers are Ivin James Palmer, Ryan Lance Palmer, Aaron Kipling Palmer, Paul Mer Palmer, Pavin Roy Palmer, Ivin Maliki Palmer, Streton Tell Palmer and Tucker Roberts Palmer.

Honorary pallbearers are Ivin's grandsons, great-grandsons, and sons-in-law; Brandon Tyler Palmer, Leroy Emil Blanert, Chad Kipling Palmer, Tommy Kester, Gavin Ray Palmer, Caleb Oliver Palmer, Justin Brewer, Rusty Shane Palmer, Ivin Saul Palmer, Cameron Dean Palmer, Luke Fulton Palmer, Paul Martin Palmer, Porter Ray Brewer, Trevor Wayne Rinker, Tanner Wade Rinker, Nolan Pearson, Destry William Palmer, Shjon Preston Myhre, Dustin Morris, and Austyn Morris.

Interment to follow at the Kirtland-Fruitland Cemetery, 59 Road 6575 in Kirtland.
