Ida Ruth Bengfort
Feb. 26, 1935 - July 25, 2015
Ida Ruth Bengfort 80, of Farmington, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015. Ruth was born on Feb. 26, 1935, in Osborne, Kan., to Henry Hake and Claudia Hinkle.
Ruth came to Farmington in 1954, where she worked as a LPN. It was there that she met and eventually married her beloved husband, Ed Bengfort. They married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in 1955 and had five children. Ruth worked as an LPN Nurse for many years while Ed worked at Halliburton. While working at San Juan Manor and San Juan Regional Medical Center, Ruth enjoyed caring for the elderly and often times brought elderly residents from work home for holiday dinners. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and baking; as she created the most amazing wedding cakes for family and friends. She and Ed enjoyed hosting dinners for seniors at St. Mary's Church. Ruth was a servant for God, for family, for Friends and People whose names she didn't know. She always provided a "Happy Place" for all the children in her life. Ruth will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Special thanks to her daughters Kathy, Jen, and Jeannie for their love and care of mom in her final days. Also to Guardian Angel Hospice Care and her lifelong best friend, Nancy Kester.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Bengfort; parents, Henry Hake and Claudia Hinkle; brother, Fred Hake; sisters, Silvia Gumm, Janet McCulloch and Sharon Hake. She is survived by her sons, Chris (Yvonne) Bengfort, Tim Bengfort, John (Lori) Bengfort; daughters, Kathy (Tommy) Green and Jeannie (Steve) Vitzthum. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
A rosary for Ruth will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday July 30, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2100 E. 20th St. in Farmington.
A funeral Mass for Ruth will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 31, also at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Farmington, with celebrant Father King.
