Hugh Atcitty-Begay, Jr. 1944-2014
Hugh Atcitty-Begay, Jr., 70, of Newcomb, NM, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2014 in Farmington. He was born April 14, 1944, in Shiprock, NM, to Hugh Atcitty, Sr. and Jessie Redshirt Atcitty. Hugh was born into the Taábaha born for Kinlicheeni. During his life, he worked for and retired from NECA, Dine Nation. He also worked for Plateau Refinery. Survivors include his wife, Rena Teller; sons, Leonard and Gilbert Atcitty; daughters, Nadine Norberto (Nelson Jr.) and Hughetta Atcitty (Don Shorty); step-children, Donnell Hnat (Rik), Tracey Phoenix-Lyons (John), Christopher Teller (Earlphia) and Harriet Talk; brothers, Edward and Calvin; sisters, Lorraine Smith, Jean Rose Bidtah (Elliot), Eleanor Antonio, Rose Bahe, Valeria Garner, Betty Barbone and Nellie Atcitty; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Visitation is Thursday, April 24th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St., in Farmington. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 414 N. Allen Ave., in Farmington, with Father Anthony Dike as celebrant. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 6917 E. Main St., in Farmington. Pallbearers will be: Kaleb English, Shawn Henderson, John Lyons, Bryan Norberto, Don Shorty and Chris Teller. Honorary pallbearers will be: Robert Kee, Ernest Kenneth, Dugan LeBeaux, Glenn Nakai, Vernon Teller and George Werito. The family would like to thank the San Juan Regional Nephrology Department, Dr. Pandya, Dr. Pokharel and the San Juan Rehab Center. Arrangements are with Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E.
