Hildred Pearl (Tilbury) Pipkin went to her heavenly home on October 25, 2015. Pearl was born March 19, 1927 in Fort Lupton, Colorado to Harry Albert and Nellie May (Louderback) Tilbury.
When Pearl was two months old she moved to Clovis, New Mexico with her mother and her 5 siblings. She was raised by her mother and her beloved grandparents Charles and Margaret Louderback. She attended schools in Clovis, New Mexico and General Rose High School in Denver, Colorado. Pearl participated in sports in high school. After graduation she returned to Clovis where she attended Benson Business College.
Pearl met the love of her life, Raymond "Bud" Pipkin. They were married on November 10, 1947.
Pearl and Bud farmed and ranched in the Fields and Melrose, New Mexico area until moving to Alamosa, Colorado in the summer of 1966. There they managed the River Ranch and then worked for Pro Chemical as their ranch manager. Pearl resided in Alamosa until 1998, when she moved to Farmington, New Mexico where her son lived.
Pearl worked several years for a real estate firm in Alamosa. She then went to work for Silver State Aviation and always said that was the best job anyone could hope for.
Pearl was always active in her community. She was a member of a homemakers club at Fields and Melrose, PTA member and officer, 4-H leader and coached her daughters' summer baseball team. Her church was always very important in her life. She was Sunday School teacher, church treasurer and sang in the choir. Pearl joined the "Red Hat Smoothies" after turning 80 and enjoyed various activities while residing at the Life Care Center in Farmington.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, Claude and Lee Tilbury, three sisters, Nellie Opal Tilbury, Nina LeBlanc and Evelyn Mills and half-brother, Alvin (Dude) Kinkade.
She is survived by her children, Barbara (Jerry) Hill of Las Vegas, NV; Judy (Scotty) Ferguson of Kirby, MT; Bill (Marge) Pipkin of Cokedale, CO. Four grandchildren: Robyn (Albert) Isaguirre, Sean Hill (Bernie), Sam (Erika) Pilch and Bud (Miranda) Pilch. Four great grandchildren Marlena Pearl Hill, Liam and Ruth Monroe, Eva Pilch: half-brother Jerald Kinkade and half-sister Theresa (Melvin) Cruse; and several nieces and nephews as well as numerous friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 28, at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, 5905 McCarty Ave., Farmington; with Pastor Larry Bryant officiating. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 30, at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1601 Llano Estacado Blvd, Clovis, New Mexico; with Pastor Jim Peabody officiating. In lieu of flowers Pearl requested donations be made to the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, 5905 McCarty Avenue, Farmington, NM, 87402; or Life Care Center, Activities Department, 1101 West Murray, Farmington, NM, 87401.
